OCTOBER 14. Tonight's performance is canceled due to illness.
Prominent British director Peter Hall’s legendary production of Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream from the Glyndebourne Opera Festival is coming to Malmö Opera. The opera is based on Shakespeare's comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream, a combination of classical mythology and English folklore.
In 1981, a new production of Benjamin Britten's opera A Midsummer Night's Dream premiered at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival. Prominent British director Peter Hall, in collaboration with stage and costume designer John Bury, created a magical and imaginative performance that the audience and critics loved.
The production has been repeated a number of times but has never before been staged outside of Glyndebourne. We are therefore very proud to be bringing it to Malmö Opera. Choreographer Lynne Hockney, who worked on the production at Glyndebourne when it was last performed in 2016, will join us to give the opera new life. She is a well-known guest at Malmö Opera as she has previously been responsible for choreography and movement direction for Fiddler on the Roof, Smiles of a summer Night, La Bohème and Jenufa.
