Expect the unexpected on this musical journey from Bach to Björk. Skånes Dance Theater, the Malmö Opera Orchestra, and the Malmö Opera Children’s Chorus open their doors to the new premiere of the celebrated Out of the Blue by Dutch choreographer Anouk van Dijk.
Out of the Blue is rooted in creation myths from around the world, spanning history to the present day. A group emerges from an abstract blue world. They gather, invent, and display objects from lost, threatened, or made up worlds. They move together in a shifting procession—uniting and colliding, only to come together again.
Ancient rituals become business, pagan beliefs merge with seasonal festivities, and humans transform into cyborg plants. Out of the Blue is a celebration of imagination and our resistance against conforming to uncertain conditions as we prepare for a future yet unknown.
